Type U RDDs are our most versatile and universal tail design for Pneu-Dart and non-Pneu-Dart Projectors. Type U tails for 6cc 10cc RDDs are our standard tail design for any projector. Many of our more seasoned customers may be familiar with these as P-Type RDD with Flight Stabilizer Tails. Rest assured they are one in the same; renamed in part as one of our latest steps in streamlining processes and meeting the needs of our customers. Poly RDD Bodies (.5 cc to 1.5 cc)
Pneu-Dart has fortified its plastic RDD body by transitioning over to clear polycarbonate resin. Equipped with a color-coded polypropylene Type C or Type P tail, the new PolyCarb RDD is ballistically equal and structurally superior. (Poly RDDs are only available in .5 cc 1.5 cc RDDs.)

Made out of aluminum tubing, our RDDs are designed to ensure optimum performance under any condition.
How They Work
Type U RDDs contain a small explosive charge which detonates on impact and quickly injects the drug. RDDs equal to or less than 1 cc do not require retention (wire barb or gelatin collar) due to the rate of injection. As a consequence of the RDD mechanics, the RDD will flash when activated, a real asset in low-light conditions.
Cannula (Needle) Lengths
RDDs are available with a 14-gauge cannula in lengths of 3/4. Devices 1 ccs through 10 ccs are equipped with a gelatin collar but can be ordered with a wire barb. 3/8 cannula is available in plain only. Gelatin collars comprise an inert material retaining the device in place until the injection is made, and after several minutes will liquefy, allowing the RDD to fall freely from the animal.
